On Wednesday, November 15, join critics and n+1 contributors Nicholas Dames and Christine Smallwood for a conversation about Dames’s new book, The Chapter: A Segmented History from Antiquity to the Twenty-First Century, out this month from Princeton University Press. The book illuminates the ways in which book chapters became a universally recognized component of narrative art and a means to register the sensation of time. The event is free and open to the public; beer and wine will be available for purchase, as well as copies of the book.
