Diamonds and Rust ... sigh

Your analysis of that song is so wildly off, it's painful! Sorry, but I was searching google, and your post came up -- you gotta be corrected! First of all, BD, at this point, was flailing: his marriage had failed, his best work was almost behind him (he actually read her a lyric which ended up in BOTT that night -- check your wikipedia, sheesh!) and he was wearing gothic makeup while performing. As a last ditch effort to redeem himself he reformed with The Band and went on an epic tour -- his best tour, which featured Joan Baez on many stops -- that was the year this work was performed. Does Joan (still) have stars in her eyes? Well, yeah. He's Bob Fucking Dylan. Justin Timberlake? Please. But she saw him clear as day: washing up, calling _her_ while he's feeling lost and disconnected (she's clearly rejecting the whole conversation, can't you see that?). She's in the power seat! Finally -- compare Stevie Nicks and Sinead to Britney. Stay away from BD, JB and JM though, ok? I mean, really! Come on!
